Exquisitely erotic. Click here for the full video.

Why the Caged Bird Sings

8/29/2020

I've spent too much time cooped up in the house, between back-to-back Zoom calls all week and trying to avoid anti-maskers on weekends. I need to get out more. To breathe in the fresh air. To feel the sun on my skin. To do this, again.
"Live in the sunshine, swim the sea,
Drink the wild air's salubrity"
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just beautiful.

Immigration and Gumballs

8/14/2020

One of the best explanations of why large-scale immigration doesn't work. Now, I've said this before... but if you do make your way here (legally or... a border crossing or ... a raft from Cuba), I'm on your side if you're willing to bust your ass. That said, it doesn't make sense for any country (America or otherwise) to support a mass exodus. It's only going to strain resources and infrastructure. The answer is to help people where they live. Again, being global citizens. We need to help one another.

Boss Covers

8/12/2020

Yes, I'm a massive Springsteen fanatic. Indulge me. I thought I'd include a cover he did of a Bee Gees song (yes, you heard that right)... as well as a nice cover of one of his ballads, the extremely romantic "Drive All Night" (from The River). Some context around the Bee Gees cover. He was in Brisbane, on tour (and the Bee Gees are from there). He has a habit of paying homage to local bands/artists when he's touring. The strings were part of the show because he performed his classic 1973 album (a masterpiece), The Wild, the Innocent & The E Street Shuffle in its entirety that night.

Love

Gorgeous track (and video) from Kendrick Lamar.

Deepfakes

8/7/2020

Ok, so... I've heard of "deepfakes" for awhile (where the technology allows you to replace one face with another). Here are a couple great ones. Anyway, there's an iPhone app, though... that I've been playing with (Reface) and I love it. I usually hate crap like this, but it's proved to be quite entertaining.  See below for examples.

All Human Beings

8/5/2020

Super short, but... worth hearing (as it sums up what I believe... that we must all act as global citizens). I love Max Richter's work. This is a clip from his recent project, which pairs music with passages from the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). I'll include another piece of his, as well (so emotionally raw).

De La Soul

Used to love these guys. Hip Hop from the late 80s.
